It is official, for the first time in the history, an Australian player, Gabriel Popovic, is going to play for Catania FC this coming season!
Gabriel Popovic is a forward coming from Croatian second division. He currently plays for Australia U20 as he turns 20 years old next week. He is also the son of Anthony Popovic (the Manager of Melbourne Victory) and the brother of Kristian Popovic (player of Macarthur FC).
The arrival of Gabriel Popovic was announced yesterday at the first press conference of the new season by the president Ross Pelligra and the vice president Vince Grella when they presented the new coach Luca Tabbiani (44 years old, born in Genoa, last year coach of Fiorenzuola in Serie C).
